Grills that hang on the side wall of the trailer

I have a question for those of you who have a grill that hangs off the side of your trailer. Does the wall behind or above your grill get hot, does it get greasy and has it discolored in any way?

We have the mount on the side of our trailer but those are concerns of mine and I have not yet purchased a grill that would mount on the bracket. I have observed that when grilling meat that the grease tends to get on things that are in the vicinity of the grill. Also worried that a flame-up could blacken the side wall. What say Y'all?

Thanks

Steve

  • I used one on my Hybrid and never had any problems. It was my main grill cooked steak, Burgers, Dogs and chicken on it every trip never noticed the side of the camper getting hot and no discoloration what so ever on my Camper come to think of it never remember have to wipe splatter off the side of the camper unless the DW did and I just did not notice!! Use and enjoy it they wouldn't put it on the RV if it was going to be a hazard to the RV.

The grill hanging on the side of the trailer is one of the worst ideas of all time IMO, and it's for the reasons you mentioned, and probably why RV-Q is out of business. Get yourself a nice free-standing grill like a Weber Q with rolling cart or the Coleman Road Trip (2 popular choices) and you'll be much happier.
