None of it is true to the extent reported but reading a handful of articles you might believe it was coming right around the corner. Articles are often misrepresented and facts construed to get people to read. Nothing has changed since the 70's in that regard.

Also, if there is a natural cause to warming we should be able to point to it out side of greenhouse gasses which we can't. We should actually be cooling given our orbit and sun output. The fact we are not and the speed at which it is increasing is why people are alarmed.

Much like the leaded gas fiasco people will deflect, delay and use a healthy dose of cognitive dissonance to keep reality in line with their thoughts.

There still is no consensus in some parts of the world (the USA included) which is part of the problem.

Hmmmmm .... regardless of what particular person gives weather reports on the media .... don't the data inputs for their weather spot come from some meteorologist or meteorology department or similar source?

That being said, here's an excellent source for weather reports whether at home or on the road. We plug in our location and then get specific reports tailored best as possible for where we're located:

You Inland Empire guys will also be challenged by the reserve capacity of the soil. That has been expended and will need to be charged up again.

I lost all faith in media weather prognosticators back in the 70's when I lived in Houston. There was an old boy on one TV station that was terrible, so bad that a rancher North of the City challenged him that his cow was a better weather indicator. The rancher knew by the cow's behavior what the weather was going to be (rubbing along a certain fence meant rain). The TV station accepted the challenge for a month and the cow won by a significant margin. That old boy weather guy still broadcasted by I don't know how after being beaten by the cow.

Just heard on the local radio station the term mentioned above.

Campbell/Daycruiser. Exactly, in SoCal most of the runoff goes to the ocean. Little is done to collect the runoff, thus water is an issue down here. Property values are so high reservoirs remove a tax base.

I live in SoCal nowadays and all I can think about with the recent rain is how big the fire danger will be next summer after all the new greenery turns brown. Our home is on the edge of the Santa Monica Mtns and the hills are a tinderbox, a wet tinderbox for a few months, but still choked with fuel.

BTW most of the water storage in CA is done by the slowly melting snowpack. The reservoirs and the aqueducts are only to catch it and move it around as it runs from the High Sierras to the sea. In fact, essentially ALL the water that falls on Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Imperial and the other southern counties goes straight to the ocean with no attempt made to catch any of it beyond some minimal absorption where the channels have not been paved.

But that is because they started with bare mountain tops that had no snow
The rainfall is the most Calif has had in six years
But you really can't say the drought is over until everything is green
The fire hazard is down and reservoirs are full and the snow pack is complete
But thankfully, we are off to a good start
