Handheld Tire Pressure Guages?

We take our truck on the beach and have to lower the PSI to about 15-20 to get through the sand. When we leave the beach we use the supplied air compressor to pump the tires back up. Our truck has in dash tire pressure monitoring so it's a snap to see the PSI on each tire. We've verified the readings with one of those pencil style gauges and got the same result.

We are going to be taking our camper on the beach later this summer so we are going to have to drop the PSI of it's tires as well. I'm looking for a device to make things easier for us.

I guess I'm looking for an all in one unit. Is there a device that I can clamp on the stem and then push a button to bleed the tires to the correct PSI because it has a gauge? Also, is it possible to then use the supplied compressor on the device to pump the tires back up to the correct PSI?

Does that make sense? Right now we'd have to bleed some air and then test, then bleed and test, etc...... And then reverse the procedure when we leave.
  • Yes, there are many gauges like that... I have several myself I keep in the garage, RV and truck... go to Harbor Freight, Lowes, or automotive stores, and look for a good dial gauge with a short hose and a bleed button with psi at least up to 100 or 120. These attach to an air compressor hose connector - you may have to buy an extra adapter to connect it to the compressor hose.

I'm not a fan of the clamp type nozzle as they tend to slip off the valve stem sometimes if they don't grab correctly. I prefer to hold the nozzle in place myself so I know it's seated correctly. I have a gauge from "Slime" that I tend to favor over the others, but there are many choices.
