We also use the reusable bags most of the time. I was running into the same problem of running short of plastic bags for trash and such. Just drop the problem in conversation once or twice and big bags of them magically appeared. I have a couple of years supply now and have to refuse more. I have one wastebasket by my chair that works best with the old fashion paper bags, did the same with those and was amazed how many people had a stash that they wanted to get rid of.
