We never throw out plastic bags until we've reused them. Not just plastic grocery bags, produce and bread bags too. I prefer using bread bags for picking up dog dew - stick hand inside bag, grab the mess, turn inside out and tie a knot. Also often use bread bags for leftovers.
Word of caution - if using bread bags for food items be sure to use the bags right-side out, the "paint" can be toxic.
