texas: "I have always loved fires so my fire "tote" includes; slices of one of those wax sawdust fire logs. I cut with the band saw, to about 1/2 in thick, break into quarters, then store stacked in an old pringles can. Couple of cans will last a long time. I use a standard push button, self igniting, propane torch and my always "have anyway" green portable bottles as the ignition source"
I'm 65 so I cheat too from my boy scout days. I still will use up to 2 matches but will use a sheet of newspaper also. On a good day I'll shave off a little soft wood and do it the old way. LOL
Better for kids too as they may be in trouble some day and need to know that they don't need a hardware store to make a fire.
