Write your contact information on a piece of paper and take a picture of it with your digital camera. Don't ever delete the picture, and someone can find you and return your camera if you lose it.
At my workplace we get dozens of lost cameras every year with people's travel, wedding, graduation, etc. - pics that can't be replaced, and we have no way of knowing how to get in touch with them.
