Lol @ Semperfido. Our setup is all about accommodating our dog too.
I bought some led lights at ledwholesalers ebay site last year. It was the best price at the time I was looking.

If I remember correctly, it didn't take too long for shipping. Prices are good.
The 9 led is great for the reading lights, and 2 is ok for overheads. I'm thinking of getting a couple of 30 led bulbs for over the door and as a main light for next year.
We got a warm white and a cool white. I like the cool white better. It almost looks blueish when you look at it, but what ever is illuminated seems much more natural to me. I found it a bit brighter as well. The warm white seems to have a more yellowish tinge to it which makes it more like incandescent lights.
As for controlling the lights by remote, I'd be interested in hearing how you get that to work.
