I bought the electric deep fryer at my favorite recycling store (Goodwill) for $3.99. A friend remodeled it with the spout fittings for me for less than $20. I like the electric melting pot much better than melting wax on a stove top - it's too hard to control the heat on a stove top. :) Here's a link on how my deep fryer was 'altered' into a melting pot: How to build a melting pot
We do this outdoors in the fall as a family 'thing' and make a years supply at a time. I think this years batch was 300+ starters - enough for us, for friends and gifts to other wood burning friends. :)
