Those are for keeping the operator warm while making the fire starters. :)
Actually they were just on the table when I went to set up for that batch so I just shoved anything on the table to the back to make way for the drip pan. Hard to see in the photo but I put a 4 x 2.5' oil drip pan down and then put the egg cartons on the drip pan. This catches and contains most any overflow of wax during the pouring.
