A flair lasts for about 15 minutes. I don't recommend lighting any campfires that need to be put out in less than 15 minutes. If for some reason you do need to put it out, sand or dirt will do the trick.
I also keep a self lighting propane torch in the MH. That too is excellent for lighting fires.
