If I've forgotten my wife's arms, I've forgotten my wife, so I won't need to extend my slides. Seriously, If I'm alone, I can measure with my own arms. We are purging what we bring to keep the weight down, and as we keep our broom in an inside closet, we don't want to carry a stick for measuring. Every ounce counts.:B
