Black Bear Swimming in Maligne Lake - Jasper National Park

While waiting for the last boat tour at Maligne Lake to Spirit Island, we decided to take a small hike around the lake. Unlike our earlier trip in June that year where we saw bears every day, we didn't see many our return trip in September. We came upon this bear near the trail and waited for it to head down to the water. When it started swimming I was able to walk along a bridge and get some great photos. Then I positioned myself to try to get some as it came out of the water. I was hoping to see it shake off and it sure did. What a crazy cool experience, boy was my heart pounding!
