Thankfully, we didn't come face-to-face but we had a bison saunter through our site once. In fact, he had rubbed up against my sister's TT during the night, then came over to ours and left a puddle of stinky pee 5-ft wide! DSis found a wad of coarse hair stuck in the corner of her TT that morning.
The only other wildlife encounter took place at a nearby COE. I was walking my standard poodle about 7am on a cold, foggy morning. Suddenly, I saw hooves and dirt flying and my dog fell over backward! Apparently there was a deer standing by the road amongst the trees and we didn't even see it. It waited until we got right beside it before it high-tailed it out of there. I don't think my dog even saw it because he was thoroughly traumatized! That deer cut out so fast that I never even laid eyes on it--all I heard was crashing through the woods.
