We were camping near Ricketts Glen state park in PA, pulled up to the stop sign at the exit and there were a couple deer across the road from us. While watching them, another surprised us on the passenger side and stuck her head into the car. We gave her a pretzel.
On another trip in NH, I was sitting by the fire after dark when I heard a noise behind me. It was a skunk scavenging for scraps under the picnic table. I told him to scoot and he left after a few minutes. I settled back in by the fire, and a little later there was another! It seems the skunks there were used to people being around and were not scared or threatened by us. I sure was scared of them, though!
