The deer were blocking from something from me. Turned toward it and stomped their feet etc as I cut across the hollow many years ago. I had heard cracking branches brush and other sounds for a mile perhaps. Drove though a herd of buffalo or along with them at Land Between the Lakes many years ago. There's a reason they have 8x8 ten foot tall above ground with 3/4in or larger cables for fence.
Shared sandwiches with Chipmunks when deer hunting. They throw stuff at you from the trees. Came on the ground and crawled up on my legs. Gave tehm bits ofmy sandwich and gray squirrels sometimes. Had deer follow me with in three feet or so. Had them in the cedars ten foot away stomp and snort trying to get me to move, to see what I was.
Had on two different occassions in early 80s a cougar walking the old trace right beside me. Could see their eyes and sure as heck heard them but farmddogs rescued me once, and some other Hunters came along, in a jeep the other time. I had bumped my flash light against the barrel, killing the bulb, of rifle and. I wancha to know every hair stood on end. Can't shoot if you can't see.
