Yes many times, Bull Moose in BC, mother moose with a baby in Ontario, 12 ft hammerhead shark in Fla, but the most notable was in Alaska when fishing on the Russian river for trout I ran into a large black bear. Every thing that the Rangers have said was you make yourself look large and yell and the bear would run away. I found out this is not always true. When the bear came down to the pool that I was fishing in I raised my arms and yelled hey bear get out of my pool when he heard this he stood on his back legs and made himself much larger than I. The river was only several feet deep and maybe 50 ft wide so I decided to let him have the pool and moved down to the next pool. Besides I already caught all the fish out of that pool.
