. - dodge_guyExplorer IILooks like someone bougt the blueprints to the hitch buddy. I know on that one it was attached in 3 places on the hitch so it couldn't pivot, it would scrub on turns. They also offered one with a steerable axle that made sharp turns easier.
- I_am_still_waynExplorerIn their you tube video, the motorhome pulls forward in a slight turn, and the spare tire hits the back of the motorhome bending the rear grill!
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIIThe "TrailerToad" dollies use a pin arrangement to lock the pivot for backing up.

I know in the past there have been several different manufacturers with this type of product but you don't see them advertised any longer. One was called Tow Buddy. There was also a Hitch Buddy.
From the tiny bit I read, the Tow Buddy/Hitch Buddy's were plagued with quality issues and weren't worth a pile of beans.
They and this remind me of the Automated Safety Hitch. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIHey only $3200 to $3800 and you still get (have) to use your WDH

Yep, Desi and Lucy used a similar device in "The Long, Long Trailer" movie. - hersheyExplorerThis (similar) setup was used a lot back in the 50's and 60's when the family car or station wagon was the tow vehicle instead of a truck or pickup. I remember seeing a lot of them in use when I worked at a motel that had RV camping.
- the_bear_IIExplorerSeen similar products on the road mostly towing 5th wheels with a receiver hitch. Liked the idea of having 2 extra tires and brakes.
Usually if you don't see a lot of a product, I begin to wonder just how good or safe it would be.

This is an interesting concept, but I wonder if under California law, it would be considered triple towing. It seems to take the weight off the hitch, but I wonder how badly it will fare if trying to back up.
I'd guess - not triple towing, and difficult to back up. I'd imagine you'd have to disconnect, then connect to RV hitch ...
OR, you have so much room in the trailer, just carry a fork-lift with a ball on the front ... :) :)
