Has anyone painted their rv or replaced decals?

I'm picking up our new to us 2009 cougar 278rks and the paint looks pretty faded.Im picking it up on Saturday and will try to wash it really good to see if the oxidation comes off but I'm also considering having it painted and replace the decals just so it looks nice and I was wondering who's done it before.I know they have gel coat so I'm not sure if you can spray auto paint over on it.Any info is appreciated
  • My brother bought new to him a 2009 Keystone tt back in September. The inside was perfect but the old couple parked it in the middle of there big back yard for the sun to really work it over. He called Keystone direct and within a week or two they sent him ALL new decals... FREE!! I can find out exactly what he used to remove them but I believe he just started pulling off and used some kind of wheel hooked to his drill to help get the rest off. Waxed the rest of it and now looks like new.
  • I replaced the decals on my trailer, I had a friend who was in the sign/decal making business and gave me a great deal. I couldn't stand the cheap looking decals on my camper, whats nice about going to a decal shop is that you can customize the decals to your liking. Your best friend to remove decals is a 3M Decal remover wheel, it peels the decal right off without damaging paint, and is much faster and less risky than a heat gun (it was for a novice like myself anyway) There are a couple videos on youtube about applying decals, but its pretty easy if you take your time.
  • Do a search on "restoring gel coat shine", The graphics can be replaced easily enough. We had an accident with our trailer (ended on it side) and had to replace graphics on the side that was destroyed, they were replicated by a local company Bad Brush Design. Ours are custom graphics so unique.
