Hauling Running Chest Freezer In Truck Bed

i guess i am curious now: Why carry an extra freezer? We have traveled and camped in and rv over over 18 years and before tent camped. Never needed a freezer. if you are in need of more food, go to the store! Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !

On hunting trips we run the freezer once a day for a full tank of fuel in the generator. Then going home only run it for a tank a day. Every thing stays frozen as long as you don't open the freezer to check on things.

Freeze empty 1 gallon milk cartons and put them in freezer to keep the freezer full.

Lou, We keep a small (5 cu.ft.) freezer in our camper at all times. It is residing where one of the recliners was located. We run it on a small (800 watt) stand alone inverter. Depending upon size of freezer, this may be an option. If you have the room and an inverter. It would eliminate the hassles and potential theft issues.

My dad did this from AK to CA with a freezer of halibut. Just plugged it in a night and drove all day with it unplugged. He did bungie cord a bunch of blankets around it. He told me it worked good. All I know was that halibut was good!

I do this on our home deep freeze except I leave the quarter out. If the ice cubes melt and refreeze than it is going to be one clump of ice instead of cubes.
