Have you seen this new company

My brother listed his RV with this company to rent it out Outdoorsy.co They provided him with $1M insurance coverage for anytime it is rented through their system.

Anyone else listed theirs?
  • wow I checked out this site. very interesting. there is a hefty service fee and then on driving units it was 100 miles 'free' and then .43 or .50 per mile after that. WOOF! this can get extremely expensive very quickly. I never checked into 'renting' an RV but this site seems nice.

I also would not rent out my RV. Just not something I would ever be comfortable with but for those who do, this site seems useful.

From reading discussions here it is apparent that many RV owners here have little grasp of the intricacies of their RVs. I would never think of renting out my valuable and expensive possession to those with likely even less knowledge. Then again, I understand a few people even rent out their spouses . . . .

The discussion is about insurance coverage IF you chose to rent. Not about actually renting out your RV.
If you follow the forum, you would know this subject comes up occasionally. And, the vast majority of members indicate they will not rent/lend their RV to anyone.
That's probably because they grasp the intricacies of their RV's and know what can happen if used by someone who does not own the unit. :)

As a practical point a million dollars may not even be close to covering liability. Maybe it was enough 20 years ago for a commercial enterprise. Not sure it is in todays world. The million dollars would most likely replace an RV but that may be the least of the problems.

I believe the 1 million is for liability insurance, not coverage on the RV.
And, Maybe I read it wrong, which has been known to happen.

  • I suppose renting our your motorhome might be okay, but trailers and 5th wheels are so cheaply put together that, IMO, renting them out is just asking for problems. Heck, we have problems with the darned thing, and we're careful because we own it.
