Power would have to be metered in the campsites and there would probably be some incentive for camp grounds to eventually add some 100 amp 240 volt sites.
"Dream On" - Steven Tyler / Aerosmith, 1973, A really good song! :B
Where are you guys finding campgrounds with fuelling for gas and diesel units? We prefer state or federal CG, but the commercial places we've used didn't have them either. ;)
I hear ya. But that is an advantage of Electric. Athough I don't think most would would charge the vehicle at a campground it is certainly an option providing it is in accordance with the regulations of the campground. EVSE's are not expensive and could be added to say something like 10 percent of campground sites. The renter would pay a premium to use the site and power could be metered as many are now. The EVSE could be programmed to say maximum 16 amp at 240. If the renter is staying on the site for a week he can leave fully charged and pay the power bill on the way out. The EVSE on a bulk buy would probably cost 150 bucks per site plus install. This would also be handy for those of us using EV's as a toad already. Typically we don't charge at a campgrounds but there has been a few occasions where we have asked the owner if we can plug in our own EVSE on the 120 receptacle on the post. Nice to start the day with a full charge for the toad. We also offer to pay for the power although none have charged us yet.
Bottom line is it could be a revenue stream for campgrounds if done right.
I noticed at one of the outdoor resorts in Indio they have 70 amp service on their sites. Cool.
