It is a simple matter to show a little courtesy to help that big guy on the highway.
Would it not be a matter of courtesy for the merging car to speed up or slow down a bit so they don't have to use the exact piece of real estate you are on? Just yesterday I had acres in front of me and behind, but I was to change lanes to accommodate an idiot. If they really need a break, then help them, otherwise they need to learn.
