HDTV Antenna Bent

I've no idea how this came about. I was sitting on my porch and I noticed something sticking up from the top of my TT. Grabbed the ladder and noticed it was the HD antenna was bent. :(
I bent it back down, stayed and now it's back up. I'm not sure if it happened on the road or while stored. Never noticed it before.

Surely I have to replace this, but we don't watch much TV in there but I still like to keep the TT in tip top shape. Any recommendations on a cheap yet effective replacement? I only need to replace the head, correct?

  • You could bend it back, if it keeps happening the wing will eventually break.
  • Easy replacement with the same Winegard head. Not that expensive, either. About a ten minute job.
  • The wings are just aluminum sheet metal. If you can straighten it out again it will work fine. Since it has already happened twice, you will have to figure out something to prevent it from happening again. Perhaps some sort of splint from something non-metallic.
  • Maybe not....
That is the VHF element for the Batwing, the UHF element is inside the case. So if you normally travel where there are no VHF stations you wont notice the difference. As far as replacement, yes, you can replace the head only. There are really only two choices: the current version of the batwing that is a better performer than what you currently have, or the Jack that is slightly less in UHF performance than whats on the roof now, but its VHF performance is significantly less. Just depends on what you can live with in the places you go.

BTW- its just an antenna, and that has nothing to do with HD
