I've taken more control over my own health.
I got my own comprehensive blood test at a lab for $300. Found high cholesterol be altered my diet to reduce it.
I regularly monitor my blood pressure at the free blood pressure testing stations in the grocery stores.
If anything happens that requires non emergency medical attention, you go to what we call "urgent care" over here. It's like your primary care doctor but a new one wherever you are. Things like bacterial and viral infections, checkups, checking on basic, non emergency health complaints. These are great. They fill a niche. They are also inexpensive.
Lastly if things are life threatening, most areas do have cell service so 911 and paramedics are within reach. If way out there, the post about Spot or using a satellite phone is a good idea. We have some remote areas but rescue services are fantastic here.
