Heated water hoses, fresh and waste. Whats your solution?

Tell us about your experience with homemade or factory made fresh water hoses.
Of the several mfgr. brands, and homemade ones have they serviced you well or not in extreme cold, at what cost and with what material?
Waste hoses are also even more prone to freeze up, a potentially disastrous problem to the un educated who 'trickle' their fresh water to keep it flowing without considering the much slower flow through the 3" poop pipe. That one has to be heated and insulated even better.

Even if it's freezing you can dump and take on water as long as you drain the hoses and put them away. RVs are self contained.
  • I have ultraheat tank pads so I drain and fill and put the hoses away.

    Hi SD,

In truly cold weather the best thing is to operate off the water tank. Filling it as needed and draining the hose works and works well.

The same is true of dumping.

Home brew hoses are not on my menu.

We do the same as long as it will get above freezing during the day. If it will not, we also put the electric cord away, the slides in, the jacks up and head for warmer climates! :B

    Pianotuna beat me to it.

Get out hose. Fill (or drain) tank(s). Drain hose. Put hose up.

  • Never trickled water to keep it from freezing. Since streams freeze not sure it works. I wrap aluminum tape around my hose then tape heat tape to it. Walmart sells aluminum tape. The metallic tape distributes the heat more evenly. Used to use aluminum foil until I found the tape. Short stays I only took my sewer hose out during the day to dump. Long time I left sewer hose out but only dumped during the day when it was warmer.
