Heavy Duty DC Portable Air Compressor

I used a MV-50 for years without too much difficulty (my tires need 80psi) it likes to blow fuses sometimes and if the tire has over 50 psi in it you need to start the compressor before you screw it onto the tire, not a big deal. You also need to assemble it before use. I bought a Viair 88 and it does everything the MV-50 does and does it better, faster, quieter, easier and doesn't blow fuses, doesn’t need assembly is smaller and in my opinion is a superior compressor. Everyone has their openion but this one is mine.

Power tanks are nice, but big, bulky and kind of a PITA to keep filled and certs up to date.

Viar is good, but there are others I think as good or better for the money. ARB and Puma, to name two.

On the cheap, can't beat the various incarnations of the MV50, which is just a Chinese knock-off of a Viar 400P - I own both and the heads etc. are interchangeable. Fit and finish certainly superior on the Viair, of course.

If filling decent sized tires upwards of 50 psi, I think the higher duty cycle, higher CFM, higher quality ARB or Puma compressors are the way to go. Smaller tires, less than 50 psi, an MV50 will get you by just fine for cheap.

Mine goes up to at least 140 psi, and can be had relatively cheaply.
Of course, it ain't quick...

Currently I am using a dinky 115V Craftsman compressor intended for a finish nailer. It is 100% duty cycle and if I need to I can run the generator to power it. Used it for 2 1/2 years now. If I go to an on board unit it will have a chassis mounted tank and be a Viair

May want to check into a power tank co system easier than a compressor and faster to full the high psi tires

Check out Viair It does my 125# tires. !%)psi's could not. my sears and porter cable The Viair is also nice for storage.
Costs more but it DOES THE JOB.

MV-50 on amazon. Basically if it has a cigar plug it is weak, clamps direct to a battery it is good.

Viair is superior for a superior price, watch the duty cycle rating as models vary.
