For Cars the current state of the technology is such that electric works, And you can do a couple of different hybrids that work even better. Still. Electric cars have range limits. 300 miles is a lot though there is one that advertises more just now and another that delivers more.. You could easily increase the range by adding something like a Yahama EF-3600i Modified with a larger fuel tank and an exhaust that exits the vehicle (and you could power your RV with it too... Or your S&B during power fails. I found 3500 was about what I needed for the S&B when Detroit Edison failed me).
But for "heavy Equipment" you need a whole lot of battery power.. And to date that is eithe cost prohibitive, weight prohibitive, or both.. OR you need to do the Rail Road trick, Uus a big honking Diesel Generator to make the electricity instead of batteries.
