Hmmm. Maybe at a level 2 or home station but I believe an empty Tesla to 80 percent takes 30 minutes and nobody ever Arrives empty. Non Tesla EV's like a Nissan leaf, BMW, i3 etc are about the same when the use a DCFC (DC fast charge). DC fast chargers are springing up more and more.
But yah, cross country at this point might be better with a hybrid or ICE vehicle at this point. Having said that for many like us any thing over 100 miles is a complete waste of battery capacity. A lot depends on where you live and your personal needs.
