Solar and wind are now cheaper than just about anything other than hydro. Batteries are simply recycled, not disposed of.
If that's true then why is the government still subsidizing the installation of wind generators? Solar and wind both still depend on the weather to get the job done, and efficiency drops dramatically when the weather is unfavorable. Despite having wind towers all over the countryside around here, our power still comes from coal. We have seen zero benefit from wind power, even though I can see a field of windmills from my driveway.
