Since your Escape was built before Ford decided to no longer approve Escapes for towing (vehicles built after 2/28/2012) your vehicle should still be covered under the Ford powertrain warranty (assuming the mileage is under 50,000). The dealer is giving you bad information. I'd call Ford customer service and see what they say. Definitely escalate the problem up the ladder until you get the response you desire - - a new transmission!
