Wife also has a stool for stuff in back of cupboards. She tries to keep stuff she hardly ever uses in back of cupboard, where she can't reach. But that's only 1/2 the battle...She got tired of dragging stool to bath bedroom and kitchen and I got tired of opening and closing vents. So got one of these. Over priced when first buying, but after couple months more than paid for itself. Or make your own.

Other end of the "vent stik" also good for on/off for bathroom fan switch. And we took vent with fan out of bedroom and put in kitchen and put in new vent with remote back into bedroom. Now we both can open or close laying in bed.
