You must use a marked turnout if you have 5 or more vehicles behind you. If a widespot does not have a sign then it is not a turnout. In rain and snow you would not pull into an unpaved shoulder so why when it is dry - same danger of lost traction.
Also, what about the roads with the wide shoulders? Should I pull over to them?
