I have been driving these same roads in Northern California since about 1970. Most of the higher traffic 2-lane roads will provide marked turnouts every so often to allow faster vehicles to get by. And passing lanes every so often. But every so often, when there is a lot of traffic, it doesn't take long for a string of cars to find me. The problem with wanting to get off the road to allow passing in these situations is that I will normally drive slower to spot the turnouts. So it is counter productive to look for a safe turnout after every curve. I have not encountered too many 2-lane roads where ample passing/turnouts are not available.
