The issue is really more about winding roads than straight roads. 55 mph is really too fast for some of the curves and inclines on the 101 north of L.A. Cars pile up pretty quickly. I do my best to keep up but won't sacrifice safety. I will have driven almost the entire length of the 101 from LA to Oregon by next week.
Yes 55 is to fast and those curves have signs for reduced speed for ALL vehicles so no issue for me to slow down. 101 is a major truck route and most of it is 4 lanes in CA. You'll get your share of 2 lanes on 101 in OR and WA.
