Thanks for providing me yet one more reason I don't ever want to go to CA.
Hmmmm .... for the first time ever we visited the Northeast U.S. last fall all the way deep into Maine as part of a 9,000 mile RV trip. The drivers were crazy out there .... buzzing all over the place their little SUV's trying to pass us like mad all the time. The pretty country roads through the forests were nearly universally not very wide and with no shoulders to speak of to pull off onto and of course only dirt, rutted pullouts when you could find a spot. It's a good thing we didn't get any flat tires on those ancient-but-now-paved horse/foot trail roads ... even in only a 24 foot Class C. The population density felt to us like it was every bit as high as CA - at least on those little country roads.
FWIW, I really appriciate CA's 55 MPH truck/trailer speed limit. I believe that it was in place before CA became "crowded". IMHO, 55 MPH is plenty fast enough for most of the towed RVs I see - considering the physics of velocity, inertia, and stability ... and certainly fast enough for a 80,000 lb. big rig.
