I had one cut down years ago. When they built the area the lots were designed for 1 car wide driveways. Well my house was built last and it had a 2 car garage. So they poured the driveway around the tree. So I had to back out of my garage on an angle to avoid the tree. I don't know how many times I almost hit that tree backing in even after living here for 10 years! I finally called the village and told them I plan on putting in a new driveway and the tree would be in my way. They came out and looked and said we normally don't cut down healthy trees, but we see your issue. They cut it down a few weeks later. This year I'm putting in a new 3 wide driveway. No more skinny driveway.
FYI, a few years after they cut the tree down the area got hit with the EAB and we lost A lot of trees. So it would've been cut down anyway.
Good luck!
