Hint and vent to guy laying in the road

I have property on a country road. The road is straight for about 1/4 mile in each direction. When mowing next to the road, more than half of the drivers will not move over one bit even though there is no opposing traffic. They would rather run me over than than touch that center line.
You really have to destroy a wheel to get to a safe place. Drivers cannot be trusted to look up from their phones and give you an inch.

That hubcap would still be on the highway if it was me. No hubcap worth walking out on a highway for.

I understand your post and concern but did you consider that while people were looking at you, "Hey why's that guy got his flashers going?" they then run over the poor guy in the road cause there looking at you. Also if I remember correctly people drive fast as hell there and you would just give them another target to hit.

I think that it's my duty to call 911 or someone to get some assistance out to the RV; and as far as reporting accidents, drunk drivers, danger situations, etc. I feel that as a user of the highways I take on the obligation to help whenever the urgent need arises. I just don't report medical situations; fortunately haven't had to report any of them but did appear as witness along with several other people to a reckless driving behavior situation where the driver eventually rear-ended a car. As a citizen, if that means having to go to court to testify or filling out reports, so what!

If you are ever in this situation, the best advice is to turn on your flashers and set out warning triangles. And then call 411 for the Highway patrol. They will come and set behind you with their flashers on to warn off traffic. They would rather set behind you with flashers while you change your tire than write up an accident report. They will never charge you for this service. Check it out the next time you have a chance to talk to a Patrol Officer.

Neither time calling 911 was on interstate. But 2 times I had to spend money because of me calling 911. So, I only call for medical reason now.

Quick answer is our legal system.

Diving on a 2 lane road, speed limit was 50 MPH, oncoming car was stopped to make left in left hand turn lane, car behind them decided to pass them on the left, as they were making their left, and rear-ended them about 55MPH expert said. The impact almost shoved the rear-ended car into us and we almost got hit also. I called 911 and reported, almost a year later I get a served papers to appear in court. If you can believe this, Snohomish County in Washington state instructed me to call everyday during certain times and certain dates and if I didn't show to court I would be prosecuted for whatever they called not showing up to court.

How is an employer supposed to run a business without getting a replacement for me? Replacements have to be called 2 hours before shift. Not a user friendly system.

Long story short...I ended up missing 2 days of work and drove 30 miles one way, twice, that's 120 miles and four hours driving and 2 personal days counted against me (work wise) for a drunk driver in a full size pick up rear ending a Toyota full of a family coming back from the Grandparents house. In the end, turned out his lawyers were just postponing their drunk driver pleading guilty.

Don't know if anybody remembers but older Toyota's and the hatch back, the frame around window does not hold up well and penetrates into the back seat area, if enough force. If the baby was not in a baby seat, which puts babies in a higher position, more than sitting on the rear seat and just seat belted in, the baby might still be here.

My interpretation of the OP is that there simply wasn't enough room for this guy to get completely out of the traffic lane. If there was, and he didn't, that's not just stupid, it's suicidal - and possibly homicidal.

You'd really put yourself in that kind of danger to "help" someone?? Sorry, not me. I don't go into burning buildings either.

The best advice on this thread was call 911, or the state patrol.
