Hitch and Haul

Does anyone have a Hitch and Haul on the back of their RV? We have 25' Tioga Ranger. Our Zero Gravity chairs will not fit in the bays. A 6' step ladder hangs on the RV ladder. I was thinking a Hitch and Haul with a carry bag for the chairs. Looking for recommendations.

  • We had that problem with our class C MH. Left them out at a college tailgate while in the stadium during the game and they were stolen. Now we don't have to worry about storing them :( :( :(
  • Been using cargo carriers for over 20 years now! 50 bucks on sale at Tractor supply is where I buy mine from. And don't forget to pick up two ratchet straps. They hold anything down REAl secure.

They come in handy for just about anything you can think of that you might need to take with RV'ing or that doesn't fit in the bays. I've even moved washers and dryers and couches and beds for my friends with it!!

I now have it attached to my toad I pull behind my MH. Don't leave home RV'ing with out it. :C

I like the lower side model best. It allows you to add any size or type of items and tie them down more securely than the high walled ones.

Be sure to add reflective tape to the sides and back or you will find people running into the carrier in the dark when parked at a CG or even when driving down the road.
  • I bought a knock-off hitch haul from Wal-Mart for like $50 many years ago, back when the hitch haul brand was closer to $75 - $80. It holds up well, but it does rock from side to side in the hitch receiver. The higher-end ones seem more stable. I've used it a few times on the back of the motorhome up and down the east coast.

I've never lost anything. However, usually I haul 1 large item that is tied down with a ratchet strap. On a couple local trips, I carried 4 bikes on it before we got a bike rack.

  • I have a hitch haul. I use it for occasional storage for portable gensets. I ordered the option railing. The lip of the carrier didn't seem tall enough to keep items in place even with ratchet style tie downs. It flops back and forth as the receivers are not as tight as I think it should be. I bought an anti-rattle clamp to hold it tighter.
Good dollar value. I would recommend the rails.
