You need a minimum of 5 links under tension to allow the bars to move freely back and forth as you turn. Any less than that you risk them crashing into the snap-up brackets and/or sliding the brackets on the A frame.
I believe the latest year Fords say to return the front of the truck to 1/2 of the amount of rise. I don't necessarily subscribe to that however as that allows the headlights to aim upwards into oncoming vehicles and has a tendency to allow more porpoising. I try to adjust my truck to return 100% of the lost weight back to the front axle (that is also what Ford recommended for my year truck but I would do the same if I owned a new truck).
In your case, I think I would try the 5 links and see what happens. If it doesn't push the front down too far then I would probably leave it that way.
Best thing to do is visit a truck scale at a truck stop and actually weigh your rig so you know exactly where you stand in regards to axle weights and limits and weight transfer.
