Hitch Upgrade

Well since your sway bars were stolen, you may as well take the opportunity to update the entire hitch.

Nobody here has asked you what you consider "sway" though... So, what exactly do you have going on that you think is "sway?"

You see, you probably don't have sway at all. If you had sway you would have to hit the trailer brakes to stop it. Sway only gets worse if you do nothing.

The trailer will "bobble" around on uneven road surfaces, move around a bit in wind, and you might feel a "push-pull" action from large passing vehicles. None of those is sway.

I too say to go back and recheck your setup. get your tongue weight and go from there. once your all set up and if you still want to upgrade then I recommend the Reese Dual Cam. I`m using it on my 35 foot, 9200 lb loaded TT and it works flawlessly!

Yep, it wasn't the hitch that caused or at least didn't prevent the sway. Two friction bars should be more than enough to handle the work. At least, they have been doing it for me for the past 40 years.

By the way, if someone is going to steal $100 worth of friction bars from you, you can bet they'll steal the more expensive spread too, if it's available for them to do so.

If (big if) you are going to throw some money at a hitch to deal with existing sway, I would spend it on Hensley or ProPride.

I agree with others, you should solve the sway (likely not caused by hitch).

I looked up the Husky Centerline hitch and it appears to be similar to an equalizer hitch, not a dual cam unit as referred to by others. The Reese SC is the same except they use friction pads on the frame brackets. My guess is you could be happy with that hitch.

I had a Titan pulling a 6,000 pound (loaded) trailer using the Reese SC hitch from CW. My tongue weight sagged the rear end 3". I adjusted the hitch head angle to bring sag up to 1" down and then used air bags at 20 pounds to level the rig. This was on a new truck with OEM tires, not load range E. The trailer towed beautifully for 4 seasons with never a hint of sway. The Reese SC hitch uses friction pads on the weight distribution bars to incorporate anti-sway.

My son used the dual cam anti-sway system on a longer trailer with good results. Make sure your WD bars will accept the dual cams or additional expense. The system is dependent upon correct set-up which I would do myself to make it right.

If the Husky Centerline is the Reese Dual Cam clone (Reese Straightline) it will be money well spent. I have used the Reese Dual Cam many years with excellent results. I do agree that you need to determine still why you have sway. A properly set up hitch will not sway under normal conditions. Your Titan needs E rated tires if it doesn't already have them.

I did forget to mention that my two friction sway bars came up missing during our last camping trip, lesson learned there. That is what prompted me to consider upgrading rather than replacing the two friction bars. After reading all of the responses I think I will go back and spend some time making sure everything is properly set up. Thanks for everyone's input.

NEVER, NEVER EVER depend on sway control to keep the TT steady. Your TT should NOT sway with out any sway control. IF it does you have not adjusted the hitch correctly, and have not balanced the TT correctly.

Fix your sway problem, and then, and only then add sway control. Sway control is for those time when you have to suddenly induce sway by dodging a accident, or something in the road.

If you do not fix your sway problem. some day that sway will come out from under the sway control band aid and bite you. And to be honest. I have O sway at any speed. But I won't leave the house with out sway control. Never know when that deer may jump out in front of you
