Sorry your weekend was ruined. When we read your accounting we cannot tell what his demeanor was, whether you felt threatened by him, or if you thought your family would not be safe in that situation. If you did not have cell coverage I am certain that weighed into your decision. You made a choice that you thought was best for you and your family based on the information you had that we do not. You might consider calling and expressing your concerns about the host not being there or concerns about no way to contact law enforcement should you need it. We always camp during holidays at state parks in Ohio and have never had a problem.
