A new home in most of America the average income is not enough either.I don't remember the published income level where a bank or other will consider you but certainly 600.00 a week will not get you into a home and rent cost even more than payments on a new home.
US Median Household income in 2018 (last year available) was $63,179. I think you can buy a new car on that income. Purchasing a $200,000 home with 10% down payment would yield a monthly payment of $833.00, also affordable for someone earning the median monthly income which is in excess of $5000.00. Times are not as bleak as some people want you to believe.
