Think you missed the point. I don't be WRVPO is saying that ALL misfortune is based on life choices. He simply stated IF someone's financial problems are a result of life choices, that he takes a pretty hard line.
No doubt that luck, being in right place at right time, etc.. play into ones success. But, in my mind, a fair amount of that is making your own luck. If you work hard, keep focused on your goals, and take advatage of the opportunities as they present themselves, then the odds are you will be successful, or more successful, than someone who is waiting for the next hand out.
I could show you right now, a homeless person (my grandson's mother.. my ex step daughter)who is the epitome of life choices. To the point where her own mother will barely help her. Been in and out of jail. Recently said she had a job at a restaurant that has yet to open. Once she "got" this "job", she quit looking and is counting on something that has not materialized, and who knows when it will. There's all kinds of jobs available, but instead she feels empowered to lie and cheat in order to get food stamps.. claiming a dependent she doesn't have.
Well, guess I'll just stop there. Not everyone is a victim of their own doing, but I venture to say a lot more are than we care to believe.
