Honda CRV

does anyone use this vehicle as a 4 down TOAD?

Likes? Dislikes?

What fuses need pulled if any?

My father has a 2013 for sale, I am thinking about purchasing it for a TOAD.

Thanks

  • Have towed a 06 CRV for over 43k miles. Don't do anything but hook up and go. Also make sure I put in netural going thru the gears the proper way. No Problems.
  • I planned on installing a switch that would take the place of pulling the fuse, but my installer suggested that instead, I run a power cord from the MH to the CR-V, which works great.
  • Just up graded from an 98 Accord to an 05 CRV. Excellent overall toad for size and weight. Blue Ox base plate was very easy to install and nearly invisible. No problems going down the road behind the coach and even loaded with extra stuff well under my tow weight limit of 5K Lbs.
  • With the new CR-V's no longer towable 4 down, I suspect that the towable years will become relatively sought after as used cars, expressly to be towed. Our 2010, with Navigation, does not require the pulling of the fuse. It only has about 70k on it, but I get new car fever way too often. Was planning on replacing it with a new CR-V but will definitely not be. Having dealt with the poor reliability of Jeeps in the past, our only other choice would be a Subaru, but they can't be towed as automatics. Which my wife insists on. In my experience, the CR-V is the best choice as a dinghy for a gas coach.

GG, you have come to the right spot. A lot of us tow a Honda CR-V. We had a 2007 and now a 2013.

If you have the navigation, you have to pull a fuse. The perquisite is that you have to be on staff of one of the Cirque du Soleil shows on Las Vegas. Since I wasn't, I had a fuse disconnect line run to that fuse with a cut-off switch to a blank plate to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. It's next to the traction control button. Looks almost factory.

    You will love the CR-V.

X2 Like Mr Mark says you'll like it. I also put in a disconnect switch on that darn fuse. Now, I have to remember to use it :>)
