Yes the rumors are that the crv gets a new 4 cylinder engine and a six speed tranny. No info on how the new tranny will tow if this change occurs.

Yeppers, the Honda CR-V's can be towed four down. We had an '07 AWD and now a '13 AWD. Honda's, in my opinion, aren't really AWD or 4WD. What happens is, is when the front looses traction, the rear wheels kick in.

There was a youtube video on 'true' 4WD and I think Suburu's, Jeeps and maybe a couple of others will send the power to the wheel with traction. So, the Toyota Rav4, Toyota Highlander, Honda CR-V and many other AWD systems can't pull up a 'test ramp' with just one wheel having traction. The Jeep Grand Cherokee I owned years ago had Quadra-Drive which would send power to the wheel with traction (If it would have only stayed out of the shop long enough to use).

We tow the 2012 AWD CRV and it does fine. I would not plan on pulling a fuse. I ran a separate charge line from the coach to the battery on the CRV and we have no issues with the battery discharging.

I have a 2010 CRV two wheel drive and have been towing it with no issues for the last year. There is a routine that you must go through before towing involving shifting the transmission through the gears in a specific sequence, then leaving it in neutral, along with a couple of other details, but easy to do and no problems at all. I don't have navigation but had a switch installed that kills the radio circuit when towing to lessen the drain on the battery (and, no, I don't have to reset the station presets each time)rather than pulling a fuse, as mentioned in the owner's manual. Good car, good toad.
