Why do you have to start the crv after 500mi.?

FYI.......our 2013 CRV Owners Manual says to run the transmission through the gears every 8 hours regardless of mileage driven. Apparently after that period of time the fluid gradually drains out of the areas needing lubrication.
And as in some of the previous posts, when we stop for lunch on long driving days, I do it.
