I used to do it all the time. Under partial load, I would run one or the other generator while paired up to the parallel kit. It doesn't matter which generator the parallel kit is mounted to, all that matters is that the kit is plugged into the running generator. I tried to keep the hours balanced on the two generators by doing this and not keeping one as a primary unit that ran more than the other.
