Hot kitchen cabinets
I've owned my new RV for a couple of months now and have been trying to figure out why my kitchen base cabinets were always hot. At first, I figured it was the accent lights at the base so I turned them off. The cabinets were still hot.
So I figured it had to be the Oasis hydronic heater in the basement. I suspected this because I noticed that my electric heating elements were on a great deal and the unit was directly under my kitchen cabinets. I called the dealer and asked them about this. They said it was normal and there was no adjustable thermostat on the Oasis. I still wasn't happy with the answer. Finally, today, I asked someone at Newmar (the coach manufacturer) and he immediately replies. I'll bet the system override is turned on.
He asked me to go outside and look in the basement at the control panel and see if the on/off switch at the top of the control panel was turned on. Sure enough, it was on. I turned it off and now the cabinets are cool and the hot water works perfectly.
While I'm a bit embarrassed that it took this long to figure out, I wanted to pass this along to those of you with the Oasis hydronic heating system. The on/off switch on mine is a service bypass that forces the system to pump water through the heating system and basement radiator. When it's off, the system works based on the thermostat. It's confusing, but off, means the service mode is off.
