D.E., we Californians have our challenges.
Are you free tomorrow? We could go snow skiing, ocean surfing or fishing, go to the highest or lowest place in the continental U.S., see the largest tree, tallest tree or oldest tree, sit in a deli next to practically any movie, TV or internet star (not that you acknowledge them), pan for gold, see farms with almost all crops, ... Yup, a terrible place!
That's all fine and dandy, but then you have to put up with the everyday crazy wacko stuff like registering a private truck and not being told it's commercial just because the size or bed doesn't fit some arbitrary rule and that's just one of the myrid of things that turned me off on living in Ca after being there for over 10 years with both of our sons being born there. It's often referred to as "Kalifornia", "left coast", or the land of "fruits and nuts" for a reason by the majority of us "NORMAL" everyday folks;)
While I'll concede Ca. has some nice natural resources I just would never consider living there and I can always just visit, get my fill of whatever and then return to sanity when satiated. About the only real thing missing out east is the desert and sand dunes environment, but I for one am just not into those things anymore.
I've live on both coasts, the north (Chicago) and the Deep South (Fl and Ms) and I'll stay right here is good ole Virginia.
